This product exceded my expectations. I purchased it for the atrium window over my front door and I wondered if the batteries would really last and if it would turn on and off correctly.
It is still lighting up as of today, 2/11/10, in the evening and turning off in the daylight. The lights inside did not effect it at all. I thought they might turn it off. The "candles"
are tall enough so that they extend beyond the sill and are easy to maintain addition for the holidays. They were exactly as described.

I love these lights. I have several. They take four C batteries if I recall correctly and they will last the entire season. Its really nice that they come on and off with the light. They have a switch you can turn to keep them at a steady light or a flickering option which makes them appear as real candles. They aren't as bright as I'd hoped but that just makes them look more like real candles. However, this is NOT a super-saver price. You can get them elsewhere for 17.95 each year round at another site. The so called suggested retail price means nothing.

Only 2 of the 3 lights would come on automatically at dusk. However, manually turning it off and then on would get all 3 to work (huh?). But all 3 never lit on their own. It was returned - no hassle, no expense, to Amazon for a refund.
I have several of the single lights and they work fine. Be advised that they're not very bright looking from the outside but I love the soft glow they give inside my home.
The heavy batteries in the base make them very stable on the windowsill. The batteries seem to last about 4 - 5 weeks - enough for the Christmas season.

One of the lights stopped the first week I used it. I bought a similar one for a third of the price right after I bought this one, and that one is still working fine! What junk!

I bought a pair of these, and also a pair of the single candle style, for ambient lighting for our recent Halloween party. They were perfect! The look is simple yet elegant, they are sturdy with a weighted base, and turn on with a discreet switch on the back of the middle candlesleeve rather than having to pick it up and turn it over (important when you are using spider webs or other decorative accents that you do not want to disturb!). The flickering bulbs are very pleasant and I am sure that we will use them again at Chistmas and even on the table at Thanksgiving. With children and pets around, it is best not to have actual flaming candles that could be hazardous.
