 "Red-orange candle light." 2010-01-11

These candles are very nice with the exception to color. If you are expecting a bright white glo like the tradtional corded window candles you won't find it here. Can look a little halloween-ish. LOVE the automatic light sensor feature. Customer service with the company is A+ too.

"Great, but long term cost may be too high" 2009-12-23

I think this is an excellent product and do not mind the orange glow (which looks more natural when set to flicker mode than constant on).

Good Tidings/Carlon customer service is excellent. After a few days the flicker option stopped working, but the candles still lit when turned to constant on. I called customer service and without any hassle they said my bulbs were going bad and that they would send out replacements for my 2 units that were affected. They do have a 2 year replacement warranty.

I'm disappointed that the bulbs are not replaceable because that will make these a more expensive option in the long-run since the full units will need to be replaced. And I couldn't find these in any local stores, so once Amazon stops selling them I'll need to replace all of them with a newer model. But for now I'm extremely pleased!

 "All in one" 2009-12-15

I really like these window candle lights. I first bought a couple a few years ago at Lowe's and last year I went back to get more and couldn't find any. Luckily I found them on Amazon this year and bought enough to put in all my front windows.

Some argue the color is yellow and not appropriate for Christmas. I disagree. Yes, the light is more yellow but from the road it doesn't look yellow and does not look any different from the white Christmas lights strung up outside the house.

My only complaint is that they are a bit fragile in that I dropped one (and my toddler grabbed another) and the candle part came detached from the base. The wiring got separated and there is no way I can fix it (unless I find an electrician...).

 "Not a bright idea..." 2009-12-09
By J. McCoy (Fairfax, VA)
I read all of the reviews and had high hopes for these. I put one in a front window at my home in place of one of the plug-in candles I already had in place. Then I walked to the street (about 40 ft.) to see how it looked.

It only took a minute to realize that they had to go back. The light is just not very bright. I had a hard time seeing it. The yellow/orange color doesn't really look like flame - not does it look white and bright as one normally sees in windows at the holidays. It's very artificial looking (to me.)

They may be great for another application, but as holiday window lights, they're just not a bright idea. If anyone has found battery-powered holiday lights that are sturdy, timer-driven (or with a darkness sensor) that shine bright and look good, please let me know.
